Friday, November 18, 2011
In the second edition of his new video blog, Northeastern director of athletics Peter Roby addresses the developing situation at the University of Maryland and the difficult budgetary decisions that department now faces, including the prospect of cutting up to 10 varsity sports programs. Roby discusses the implications of such a decision. He also talks about the challenges of adding expenses through the cost of attendance stipend that was passed by the NCAA within the last month. He evaluates alternatives, such as the existing Pell Grant program, and speaks frankly about the ongoing discussions at Northeastern surrounding the decision to offer, or not offer, the stipend.

Great video AD Roby! Glad to see that this decision is not being taken lightly and that you're keeping in mind all of the NU community with this decision. I'm sure the NU community appreciate your thought in regards to our athletes and as a whole. Looking forward to more from the blog!
